Mockshop Solution Speeds Shop Merchandising for Bandolera

International fashion label achieves fast, accurate product displays in over 2500 stores

Bandolera, a fast-growing women’s fashion brand based in the Netherlands, has seen significant efficiency increases and more appealing shop designs with Visual Retailing’s Mockshop merchandising solution. Bandolera is also using the Visual Retailing product database SampleRoom that enables staff to visualize the entire collection whenever required and to prepare its collection books.

Founded in 1985, Bandolera comprises the fast-growing clothing brands Bandolera (www.bandolera.com) and NTS (www.notthesame.com). Bandolera sells fashionable, businesslike clothing for women in the age category of 30 to 55 years old, while NTS is focused on trendy casual clothing for women between 25 and 45 years old. Bandolera achieves the majority of its revenues via wholesale trade to multibrand shops. In addition, the company has about 50 Bandolera and 5 NTS monobrand stores, both franchises and self-owned shops, which represent a growing number of points of sale for the two brands. In the medium term, Bandolera envisages tripling the number of its monobrand shops, taking the total to about 150.

To underpin this growth strategy, Bandolera’s merchandising team set about looking for an IT-based solution to help them quickly design shop layouts and communicate them to shopfloor staff. Previously, this work was being done manually, but with the growing number of sales outlets the company wanted to make the process more efficient.

“Along with the rapid growth of our business with multibrand stores, we’ve almost doubled the number of our own shops over the last couple of years and this business model is proving very successful for us,” notes Richard Janssen, Business Unit Retail Manager at Bandolera. “However, this growth meant that our merchandising team was spending more and more time answering shopfloor queries about layouts, so we contacted Visual Retailing directly.” The company decided not to evaluate other solutions as they had already heard good reports about the Mockshop solution from industry peers. “Visual Retailing is known in our sector, as it produces a solution designed specifically to solve the challenges fashion retailers face every day,” adds Janssen.

Using the simple drag-and-drop functions in Visual Retailing’s Mockshop, Bandolera’s store planners produce planograms of product displays the way shoppers see them. The layouts, which can be adapted to any store size, include all necessary fittings, such as rails, tables and hangers.

“With sixteen collections per year plus accompanying accessories, our store layouts need to be changed frequently. This is where Mockshop planograms help us save a lot of time, as they’re really easy for the shop staff to read and execute,” concludes Bandolera’s Richard Janssen. “The planograms also eliminate misunderstandings and ensure a more accurate execution of how we want our shops to look.”

Bandolera has also implemented SampleRoom, Visual Retailing’s solution that enables merchandising and other staff to constitute a graphical database and collection books. According to Richard Janssen, the company is currently looking at expanding the use of SampleRoom to the purchasing department. The application will enable buyers to generate visual analyses and reports from the various collections.
