K&L improves communication with its branches thanks to Mockshop and Sampleroom from Visual Retailing Haarlem, Netherlands – Weilheim near Munich, 26 March 2007 – German fashion chain K&L, headquartered in Weilheim, near Munich, has expanded considerably over the last few years adding another nine stores in the last year. The company now has 57 stores and this growth requires improved communication with the shopfloor. Visual Retailing’s “Mockshop” visual merchandising and “Sampleroom” range visualisation software tools are providing K&L with solutions to these communication challenges. As a vertically integrated retailer, K&L want to have tight control over the whole value chain, from concept to consumer. Collections are developed locally, manufactured remotely and promoted to customers using K&L’s own marketing concepts. The whole K&L organisation has been reorganised to support this vertically integrated product lifecycle. The final step in this whole process is communication with its branches and making certain the original concept is implemented in a consistent manner across all 57 stores. “What we needed to achieve this, was for us to be able to use pictures to communicate the relevant content. Written instructions and product lists were completely unsuitable for this” explains Jürgen Bleidiessel, IT project manager at K&L. During the tender process, we evaluated Visual Retailing and a number of other competitors. In the first round, a few companies with systems that were not compatible with K&L’s ERP system dropped out. Visual Retailing was finally chosen as the preferred supplier, which was down to the company’s better presentation and production knowledge. The decision went in Visual Retailing’s favour on technical grounds too, as the system could be connected more easily to K&L’s ERP system. “Knowing that Visual Retailing had an SQL database made the decision much easier for us,” continues Jürgen Bleidiessel, offering a further argument in favour. K&L’s IT project manager is very pleased with the service being provided by Visual Retailing. He appreciates, in particular, the support provided by Visual Retailing from Haarlem in the Netherlands, both via telephone and e-mail, which also facilitated rapid implementation. Based on Jürgen Bleidiessel’s initial experiences, the new system helps to save a great deal of time. “Photos are automatically cut out in a couple of seconds and saved in the system, whenever you want. As a result, our procedure for producing reports is much more professional. We have already gained considerable benefit from Visual Retailing’s Photo Studio. Pictures now look more attractive and impressive, providing better quality too.” Jürgen Bleidiessel concludes by listing some of the other benefits offered by Visual Retailing: “Intuitive operation, especially compared to products from other suppliers, standardised programs and finally, the ease with which 3-D pictures of a store can be produced in a planogram.“ |
